  • Account Data: Email address and name provided during registration.
  • User Content: Recipes, instructions, and notes you manually enter or import.
  • Images: Photos you upload from your device and images generated via our AI tools.
  • Metadata: Information embedded in your photo uploads (such as EXIF data). Please be aware that photos may contain location data unless you strip it before uploading.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To Provide the Service: Storing and syncing your recipes across your devices.
  • AI Image Generation: When you generate an image, we send the prompt (and in some cases, a reference image) to third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). We do not use your private recipes to train these models.
  • Web Imports: When you import a URL, we temporarily process the website data to extract recipe information for your personal view.

3. Data Storage & Security

We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data. Since Maple Cookbooks is a private tool, your recipes are not searchable by other users or indexed by public search engines.

4. Third-Party Services

We use third-party vendors for specific features:

  • Cloud Storage: To host your images and database.
  • AI Providers: To facilitate image generation. These providers have their own privacy policies governing the data sent to them.
  • Analytics: We may use anonymized usage data to improve app performance.

5. Your Rights & Data Portability

We believe you should always be in control of your data.

  • Access & Correction: You can view and edit your data at any time within the app.
  • Data Export: You may use our Export Feature at any time to download a machine-readable copy of your recipes and data (available in JSON and PDF formats).
  • Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, your data will be removed from our active databases within 30 days.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes via the email address associated with your account.
