Welcome to Maple Cookbooks (the "Service"). By accessing or using our website and mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Maple Cookbooks is a personal organizational tool that allows users to store, manage, and create recipes for private use. The Service includes tools to import content from the web, upload personal photos, and generate images using Artificial Intelligence ("AI").
2. User Content & Ownership
Your Content: You retain all ownership rights to the text, recipes, and photos you manually upload to the Service.
License to Us: By uploading content, you grant Maple Cookbooks a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
Private Use: Currently, the Service is for personal, non-commercial use. You may not share your account or use the Service to distribute copyrighted material to others.
3. AI-Generated Images
Generation: The Service allows you to generate images using third-party AI technologies.
Ownership: To the extent permitted by law, you own the outputs you generate. However, you acknowledge that AI-generated content may not be eligible for copyright protection under current legal frameworks.
No Guarantee: We do not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or appropriateness of AI-generated images. These images are for illustrative purposes only and should not be used for food identification or safety (e.g., identifying edible vs. toxic ingredients).
4. Web Import & Third-Party Content
User Responsibility: Our "Import from Web" feature acts as a technical facilitator. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your import of any web-based content complies with the original creator’s terms and "Fair Use" copyright laws.
Third-Party Rights: You acknowledge that importing a recipe does not grant you ownership of the original author’s intellectual property. Imported content is for your private, personal reference only.
5. Health, Safety, & Allergens
Cook at Your Own Risk: Maple Cookbooks is an organizational tool, not a professional culinary advisor. We are not responsible for any injuries, foodborne illnesses, or property damage (e.g., kitchen fires) resulting from following recipes stored in the app.
Inaccuracies: AI-generated text or automated unit conversions may contain errors. Always verify cooking temperatures, times, and ingredient quantities.
Allergen Warning: It is your sole responsibility to check ingredients for personal allergens.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the AI tools to generate illegal, offensive, or infringing imagery.
- Attempt to "scrape" or mass-export data from the Service that you do not own.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MAPLE COOKBOOKS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or our business interests.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Utah, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
